Time Out says

At NextGen Bootcamp, high school students can access high-quality education in some of today’s most in-demand professional skills. Summer programs and private tutoring are available in-person in New York City or live online from anywhere. The Computer Science Summer Program is ideal for any student interested in coding. The course covers two of today’s most commonly used programming languages–Java and Python. Through a series of hands-on activities, students will learn more about object-oriented programming, recursion, and data science. The Java portion of the class will also prepare students for the AP Computer Science Exam. NextGen also offers a FinTech Summer Program which covers beginner to advanced Excel while also exploring essential finance, investing, and data science concepts.

High school students who hope to enter a more creative profession also have a few programs to choose from at NextGen. The Graphic Design Summer Program teaches students the fundamentals of design, like typography and color theory, while exploring three essential design software programs–Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Throughout the course, students will learn to use each program as they add various projects to their personal portfolios. Some of these projects include social media graphics, book covers, and event posters. There is also an Animation Summer Program that guides students through the design and production of their first 2D animated project.

NextGen Bootcamp was founded in 2016 when Zach Cohen noticed a significant gap in the coding bootcamps available to high schoolers. Since then, its popularity has grown, and its programming has expanded to include courses on subjects like UX and UI design, finance, graphic design, video editing, and animation. NextGen believes anyone can learn to code through hands-on guidance and immersive practice. Their class sizes are kept small, and they are open to students of all skill levels between the ages of 13 and 18.

High schoolers who have attended a class at NextGen have very positive things to say about their experiences. Many report being surprised at how much they could learn and accomplish in a relatively short period. Many students feel that the material is easy to understand, and the instructors are helpful and patient when students have questions or need support. Students also appreciate how the material is regularly tied back to how they can use these skills in the real world, and how the courses prepare them for advanced placement high school courses or college-level programming.
