New Sounds Live: Silent Films, Live Music

WNYC’s New Sounds impresario John Schaefer curates this four-night series, which brings a quartet of experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison’s acclaimed features to the World Financial Center’s glass atrium. Morrison blends decaying archival images and silent-film reels with his own color footage, pairing the works with original scores he commissioned from contemporary composers, including Jóhann Jóhannsson, Michael Gordon and Dave Douglas. Each night of the series screens one of these fusions, and both the opening and closing nights feature live music.
