If you're someone living with an allergy, Halloween can be a bit of a nightmare, what with all of the mystery candy being flung into those trick-or-treat buckets. (Did you know that common allergens like wheat, milk, soy and even egg can be found in your classic Halloween sweets like chocolate bars, caramel candies and fruit gummies? We sure didn't!)
This All Hallows Eve bash takes out any of that allergy anxiety. On Thursday, October 26 from 3:30-6:30 pm, the Nectar Allergy Center at 176 Third Avenue near Union Square is hosting a free, allergy-safe Halloween party for families, complete with allergy-safe treats, face painting, games and a kids' disco.
While the kiddies are enjoying such festivities, the adults can enjoy some wine and cheese, take a tour of the new hypoallergenic clinic and meet Nectar Allergy Center's Medical Director, Dr. Akansha Ganju, who will be on hand to answer questions and give expert guidance about how to have a safe and spirited Halloween even if you or someone you know has allergies.
And while costumes are not mandatory, they're definitely encouraged!
