Mr SOUL!

This 2018 documentary chronicles the groundbreaking public TV show SOUL! and its visionary host, Ellis Haizlip. The program, which ran from 1968 to 1973, highlighted black literature, poetry, music and politics at a time when almost no outlets did. It's a fascinating film, and it's hard to think of a more fitting place to see it than the Apollo.
