The Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria is celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with an afternoon of talks, tours, media-making activities and more. With a special introduction, Senator Kristen Gonzalez will kick off the day of programming. Then visitors can join a conversation with teens about their advocacy and community service; create animations and other media inspired the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and participate in a scavenger hunt game inside the Behind the Screen exhibition, discovering the connections between the history of moving images and Black Americans’ fight for freedom during the Civil Rights Movement.
Activites will be held on Sunday, January 14 and are included with general admission.
