The Californian composer—and member of the international Wandelweiser collective—has been on a tear of late, releasing a series of contemplative yet compelling albums on his Gravity Wave label. Most of those releases have layered post-Cageian, postminimalist instrumental parts over field recordings. But his new, three-hour piece is scored for just two violins, making this gig a rare opportunity to connect with the composer's all-acoustic aesthetic. The duo partners, Chris Otto and Erik Carlson, have extensive experience in the new-music wilds too. Buckle up for an interesting ride.
