Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the LatinXtravaganza on Saturday, October 7 at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park. Curated by Pulitzer Prize finalist Xocihtl Gonzalez, the daylong event "will showcase the vibrant rhythms, flavors and traditions that make Latinx culture so unique." It's free to attend with advance registration.
Try a salsa lesson, taste some Latin cuisine, try your hand at a domino tournament, browse a banned book library, hear a poetry reading, and lots more.
Attendees will also experience the massive mural "Esta Tierra Es Nuestra Tierra" ("This Land is Our Land") by artist Mata Ruda on the Grand Stairs. The mural celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
