Organized by the New York Society for Ethical Culture, this celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will feature free programming for the whole family. The all-day event on Monday, January 15 will include social justice writing workshops with Writopia Lab for kiddos between the ages of 10-12 and 13-17; a participatory dance experience with Simba Yangala and Kamutshima Dance Troupe; a songs of liberation sing-a-long with DuPree and Barry Kornhauser; arts and crafts to help create a community peace mural; and an opportunity to participate in Amnesty International's Write for Rights Campaign, the annual letter writing initiative to support dissidents and activists who are being punished for writing or speaking out for justice. And, yes, all of that will work up your appetite, so there will be pizza, snacks and refreshments available as well.
