With its many accomplishments and milestones, it's hard to believe that Discwoman has been around for only a year. The Brooklyn collective is at the forefront of female representation in the male-dominated electronic music industry, and has been rightfully praised for its proactivism by reputable sources such as Forbes. Founded by Frankie Hutchinson, Emma Olson and Christine Tran, Discwoman has hosted events in New York, Detroit (for Movement festival), Montreal and San Juan. For its first anniversary, the collective returns to our favorite fogged-out, strobed-out tropical oasis, Bossa Nova Civic Club, with local musical tastemakers Honey Dijon, Juliana Huxtable, Sandunes, Star Eyes, Katie Rex and Shy Eyez. All proceeds will go to the Lower Eastside Girls Club.
