Founded in 1859 by philanthropist Peter Cooper, this esteemed art school is one of the oldest institutes for higher education in the country. Tuition is free for Cooper students, who can pursue degrees in fine arts, architecture and engineering, among other fields. The school frequently hosts public events and lectures.
