Time Out says

Classes at Chelsea Drawing & Painting Workshops go beyond basic artistic instruction as they discuss the history and philosophy behind different artistic mediums and periods. In the Fundamentals of Drawing and Painting workshop, participants will learn the basics of working with paint, charcoal, and pastels. There is also a Drawing and Painting Techniques: Charcoal class that discusses specific artistic elements like color, contrast, and value in more detail. Participants can bring their own objects to set up the still life they wish to recreate or use existing items in the classroom. This class also teaches participants how to discuss works of art with others.

In the Meditative Still Life class, students will learn more about how drawing and painting can be used as a relaxing, meditative activity. They’ll also create their own still life drawing or painting as they learn more about the history of still-life artwork through the ages. The goal of this class is for everyone to leave with a piece they can proudly display in their own homes or give as a gift. One of the more hands-on offerings at the school is called Learning Art through Creating Art, which allows participants to individually explore different drawing and painting techniques under the watchful guidance of an expert instructor. This class is more freeform, with the primary goal being for everyone to sharpen their creativity and improve basic skills in whatever medium they prefer.

The art classes at Chelsea Drawing & Painting Workshops have received dozens of five-star reviews. Many people, especially those new to painting and drawing, appreciated the relaxing  environment of the classroom. Some students have been attending these classes for a year, saying they’ve noticed improvement in their skills and will continue attending as long as they can. The teacher is described as supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable. Students also appreciate being able to give and receive feedback to each other, often saying they learn a lot from the skills and backgrounds of the other students in the class.
