As part of a series of events honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Harlem Cultural Festival, also known as Black Woodstock, the Schomburg Center will be hosting a panel discussion about the state of Harlem as a community. Using Black Woodstock, and specifically the performance by Sly & The Family Stone that kicked off the series of concers, as a springboard to look at how things have changed over the decades. The panel will feature attendees of the event, current/former Black Panthers, current/former members of the NYPD and local city representatives. Panelist will cover many topics including how we can work to address the problems of racial injustice that are still prevalent.
