Time Out says

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to make your own pottery, Ceramics on 10th is an excellent place to help you get started. One of their most popular beginner-friendly pottery classes is called Pottery Wheel Basics. In this workshop, participants receive a tour of the space and an explanation of various tools and equipment. After a brief demonstration, students can get started on their own ceramic pieces. Participants in this class are encouraged to be patient and open-minded with themselves. They can throw their piece on the wheel as many times as they want, and the staff at Ceramics on 10th will glaze and fire it.

Those with more time on their hands may prefer the 3-Week Pottery Wheel Throwing Course. Over three consecutive weeks, students will receive a crash course in all things ceramics. The first week consists of basic wheel-throwing techniques and creating simple forms on the wheel under the guidance of an expert instructor. In week two, students will trim and refine their chosen piece from the previous week. This is done by turning them upside-down on the wheel and slowly removing any imperfections with a small knife or a wet sponge. Students learn to glaze and decorate their finished pieces in the final week.

Your experience at Ceramics on 10th is designed to be relaxing and all-inclusive; there are no additional fees for firing your work, and the cost of tools and clay is included in the price of each course. Participants also have the option to book a two-hour session in their open studio time for $20. There are at most ten students per class, meaning each participant is sure to receive ample support and feedback from their instructor.

People who have previously attended a pottery class at Ceramics on 10th report largely positive experiences and would recommend the courses to others. Numerous students feel these classes are great for beginners, and the instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. The environment is enjoyable and relaxing, and students appreciate gaining hands-on experience in the entire ceramics process, from throwing to glazing and firing.
