Transport yourself to a land of fiddles and banjos with three days of performances from acts like Michael Hurley, Nora Brown, Bill Frisell, Sunny War, David Amram, Resistance Revival Chorus, Unholy Modal Rounders, and many more.
The festival celebrates 16 years in 2024, having grown from a small event to multiple stages inside the historic St. Ann's Church in Brooklyn Heights. Expect more than 30 bands during the weekend, along with a square dance, open mic showcase, historical presentations, and even a "can-jo workshop" where you'll learn to build your own one-string banjo out of a can.
If you feel like jamming out yourself, take a vocal or instrumental workshop, or show your strength during the Banjo Toss contest.
"The Brooklyn Folk Festival presents the best in American and world folk music," event organizers say. "The festival is a celebration of down home music, cultural diversity and memory."
This year's event runs from November 8-10.
