There’s nothing like a French dessert, and when you attend a baking class at Atelier Sucré, you’re only a few hours away from learning how to make delectable pastries on your own. The Crème Brûlée, Chocolate Mousse & Madeleines course is a wonderful introduction to the delightful world of French pastry. Students will learn tips and tricks to create these recipes at home and sample the fruits of their labor at the end of class. They’ll also leave with detailed instructions so they can recreate these desserts in their own kitchen. There is also a popular Eclair and Cream Puff workshop that teaches participants how to bake these popular desserts from scratch.
Students without a sweet tooth can still find plenty to love at Atelier Sucré. For instance, there is an authentic New York Bagels workshop where students scratch-make fresh bagel dough and prepare toppings and fillings to make sandwiches. They’re able to sample their creations at the end of the course and bring home a batch of bagels to share with friends and family. In the Homemade Pasta class, participants will craft fresh pasta into an array of different shapes and experiment with different seasonal flavors and sauces.
Chef Simon Herfray is a French pastry chef with a Masters Degree in Pastry and Bakery. He opened Atelier Sucré in 2014, aiming to share his expertise with others who are passionate about baking. To make cooking at Atelier Sucré even more enjoyable, many workshops are BYOB (bring your own bottle), so students can sip on their favorite beer or wine while they learn and cook with others. The kitchen also proudly caters to many weddings and other events in the area.
