Astorians bust out their best red, white and blue outfit a few days early for this Independence Day bash held on Thursday, June 28. Perhaps it's because Astoria Park doesn’t want to compete with the annual Macy’s Fireworks Show 2018, which promises to be one of the biggest.

However, this pyrotechnic display is nothing to sneeze at. Presented by Grucci—a Guinness World Record holder for largest fireworks display ever recorded—the show kicks off at 7:30pm with a performance by Patriot Brass Ensemble before the dazzling blasts commence.
This is one of Astoria Park’s largest, most looked-forward-to events, so plan to arrive early (like 5pm) to enjoy a pre-packed picnic on the lawn and stake out your viewing spot. Can’t make it tonight? There are plenty of other 4th of July events to come.
