Once Upon a One More Time tells the story of everyone’s favorite fairy tale heroines gathering for their book club to discuss the same old book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales—because as far as they know, it’s the only book that’s ever been written. But when The O.F.G. (Original Fairy Godmother) gives them a copy of The Feminine Mystique, these princesses learn quickly there’s more to life than just finding a prince. In this ultimate revisionist fairy tale, these literary celebutantes—including Cinderella, Snow White, Prince Charming, Belle, Little Mermaid, Clumsy, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and so many more—are finally in control of rewriting their own stories.

Award-winning dream team Keone and Mari Madrid take the helm as director/choreographers of Once Upon a One More Time which begins previews at the Marquis Theatre on May 13, with an official opening date of June 22. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.

So…what you, what you waiting for? Here are the top reasons why you need to grab a ticket. Now.

I MUST CONFESS I STILL BELIEVE

Broadway loves a fairy tale!
Broadway is no stranger to musicalized adaptations of fairy tales. But this time, pull out your finest crop tops and denim, because Once Upon a One More Time is NOT your parents’ production of Into the Woods. With some of literature’s most beloved fairy tale characters unapologetically taking their narratives into their own hands, this musical will make you believe again in what finding “happily ever after” really means. And with a powerhouse cast stepping into the timeless slippers and epaulets of these iconic characters—including Briga Heelan as Cinderella, Justin Guarini as Prince Charming, Aisha Jackson as Snow White, Tony Nominee Jennifer Simard as the Stepmother, Tony Nominee Adam Godley as the Narrator and more—reclaiming long-overdue happy endings has never looked (or sounded) so good. Watch out Broadway, a new fairy tale classic is on the rise.

KEEP ON DANCIN’ TILL THE WORLD ENDS

Broadway loves a jukebox
Musicals driven by timeless chart-topping hits will always hold a special place in our hearts. Your stack of Playbills from Moulin Rouge! and Mamma Mia! would agree. But baby, never has a jukebox been done like this before on Broadway. Featuring the generation-defining music of *the* Guinness-World-Record-holder-for-Best-Selling-Artist Spears (before she even turned 20 years old!), Once Upon a One More Time is a salute to the one-and-only Princess of Pop. This musical will feature the iconic hits like “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” "Oops!... I Did It Again," "Lucky," “Toxic,” “Stronger” and "Circus," but you’ll hear some deeper cuts, too, including “Cinderella,” “Piece of Me,” “Everytime,” “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart” and “Passenger.” With a scintillating and witty script by Jon Hartmere that’s crafted around the sweeping score of Spears, we guarantee by the time you leave, you’ll have lost your head, spinnin’ ‘round and ‘round.

STRONGER THAN YESTERDAY

Broadway loves strong female leads!
It’s 2023. If you don’t love strong female leads, get out. If you do, time for a little history lesson. In Once Upon a One More Time, a rogue fairy godmother (The “OFG”!) bestows upon our princess posse a book that would make any womanizer flee for the hills, The Feminine Mystique. However, this piece of literature is anything but a fairy tale. In fact, it is a very real book, published in 1963 by American activist Betty Friedan, who is widely credited with having sparked second-wave feminism in the United States thanks to her work. Now, what happens when you land a revolutionary text into the corseted laps of classically prim and proper ladies? In the words of our modern day princess, “You might think that [they] can't take it, but you're wrong.”

IT’S BRITNEY, BITCH.

Broadway loves Britney & Britney loves Broadway
What more can we say? It’s Britney. She started her career in New York theater and calls Once Upon a One More Time “a dream come true for me!” As the first-and-only Broadway musical featuring the music of Britney Spears—and authorized by the queen herself—the show is a celebration of the strength, style, resilience and perseverance that our Princess of Pop has shown since 1999. From production design, to choreography, to performance, the cast and creative team have crafted a once-in-a-lifetime musical that is as much a tribute to Britney’s iconography—her music videos, album covers, photo shoots and lyrical riffs—as it is a beacon for the influence she will continue to have on generations to come. Just as Britney has fought to have her own voice, so will Once Upon a One More Time inspire countless more theatergoers to dance through life with a little more flair, a little more effervescence and a whole lot more love. It’ll be anything but an “oops” when you return to see this show again…and again…and again. “Now get to work, bitch!”
