The distinguished actor Gabriel Byrne (Miller's Crossing) returns to Broadway for the first time since 2016's Long Day's Journey Into Night in a one-man stage adaptation of his well-received memoir, which traces his life's journey from Irish country boy to prominent roles in Hollywood and on Broadway. But although Byrne is a compelling storyteller, this collection of personal anecdotes—individually shaped, and separated by blackouts—feels essentially disjointed, despite a half-hearted effort to connect them as people and events who haunt him. The full Byrne book is available in audio form, performed by actor himself, and that may be a better way to experience it than in this truncated stage version.—Adam Feldman
