The global-minded, experimental Theater Mitu presents the world premiere of its newest piece, which probes the question of attempts to communicate with beings beyond our place and time. The show has been created out of text gathered from a telephone hotline the company set up soliciting people to leave messages for the future; the company, under the guidance of director Rubén Polendo, developed it in partnership with SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute, Arizona State University’s Interplanetary Initiative and Brooklyn Independent Middle School. Now it is being performed via headphones for audiences of just 12 people at a time in a funky-sounding immersive environment at the group's Gowanus headquarters.
