Rent composer-lyricist Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical, about a New York songwriter nervously approaching his 30th birthday, remained unstaged until a posthumous version—reshaped by David Auburn—premiered in 2001. Although the stakes seem low, our awareness of Larson’s untimely death shadows the musical with poignancy. Forager Theatre Company one-weekend revival, directed by Jennie Hughes, sets the show semi-immersively in Larson's living room, and is performed by Alex Parrish, Iris Rodrigo and William Bailey.
