The dauntless Kathleen Chalfant (Wit) traveled to living rooms and community spaces around the city to perform the first New York revival of Joan Didion's 2007 solo play, adapted from her own limpidly heartbroken memoir about the death of her husband of 40 years, John Gregory Dunne, and the life-threatening illness of their daughter. Keen Company's Jonathan Silverstein directed the production, an unusually intimate encounter with grief. After a sold-out run in the fall, Chalfant reprises her performance in a pair of benefit shows in January at the Players Club.
