Downtown cult-camp playwright and drag actor Charles Busch (Vampire Lesbians of Sodom) had a breakthrough Broadway hit with this highly entertaining 2000 comedy, which starred Linda Lavin and Tony Roberts as an upper-middle-class Upper West Side couple whose dull lives are upended by the return of a wild childhood friend played by Michele Lee. All three of those actors reunite for this one-night benefit for the Actors Fund, joined by fellow original cast member Anil Kumar and—in a twist—by the playwright himself: Busch will now play the title character, Marjorie, with Lavin as her crabby mother. Lynne Meadow directs what is sure to be a memorable evening.
