In 1909, between the publication of A Room with a View and Howards End, E.M. Forster wrote a science-fiction short story (!) whose basic set-up—a world of socially isolated people whose communications are mediated through a central machine—speaks to questions that may resonate in today's tech-saturated age. This multimedia stage version, adapted and directed by Kevin Ray, employs live actors and puppetry to tell the tale in a new way.
