Time Out says

Bass-baritone Davóne Tines stars in this musical-theater piece, created with composer Michael Schachter and adapted from Langston Hughes's 1931 poem about an African-American man's struggle to free himself from the shackles of history and minstrelry. Zack Winokur directs the production, which premieres at the American Repertory Theater last year and now makes its NYC debut at the Mostly Mozart festival.
