Heather Christian's exquisite Oratorio for Living Things was one of the theatrical highlights of 2022, so if you miss her latest work there's a good chance you'll regret it. This piece—presented by HERE and the Irondale Center as part of the Prototype Festival—is a ritualistic song cycle about femininity and motherhood, inspired by the philosophies of three female mystics (Julian of Norwich, Hildegard von Bingen and Robin Wall Kimmerer). The ecstatic world premiere, directed by Keenan Tyler Oliphant, is performed by Christian with three dozen other singers and musicians.
