The Playwrights Realm's annual festival of new work offers readings (two per day) of four plays by its 2024-25 writing fellows: Alexa Derman’s The Creature (Apr 7), about a monster born of organ harvesting; Mik/ayla Johnson’s obit, or no more dead dogs (Apr 8), a dark comedy of illness and mourning; Yilong Liu’s We Borrowed Brokenness (Apr 9), in which five organ-transplant beneficiaries honor their late donor through physical and digital means; and Malaika Fernandes’s Mulaqat (Apr 10th), in which a mother-to-be in the U.S. is visited by her South Asian mother and mother-in-law at once. The readings are free, but reservations via email are suggested.
