Radial Park at Halletts Point Play, which combines a drive-in movie with live entertainent by Broadway talents, launched in Sempteber with The Phantom of the Opera, and since then has presented Prince's Purple Rain and a weekend of Hallloween-themed programming. Next up: On November 20 and 21 at 7pm, two-time Tony Award nominee Eva Noblezada stars in a hybrid version of the 1997 film Selena, a biography of the murdered Tejano pop star Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
Joined by a six-piece band, Noblezada—best known for her leading roles in Broadway's Hadestown and Miss Saigon—will perform a total of seven musical numbers from the movie: some in a preshow, others while the movie is being screened. Vanjah Boikai and Emily Marshall serve as the show's director and musical director, respectively.
Audience members can either watch the shows from their vehicles (with up to five passengers) or from picnic tables that seat up to four people and have been equipped with audio devices; tickets cost $100 per vehicle or table, or $150 for vehicles in the premium area. For $35, individual audience member can watch from blankets or chairs that they bring themselves. Safety protocols, including temperature checks, are enforced at the site; spectators are asked to arrive at least 45 minutes before the show begins.
