Emma Donoghue adapted her own 2010 novel, about a kidnapped woman who has raised a small child inside her captive's home for all of his young life, into a hit 2015 film starring Brie Larson (who won an Oscar for her performance). Now she brings it to the stage as a play, starring Tina head-turner Adrienne Warren and directed by Cora Bissett—who also helmed the show's 2017 UK premiere and has cowritten songs for it with Kathryn Joseph. Ephraim Sykes, Kate Burton, Tina Benko, Michael Genet and Triney Sandoval are also in the cast.
