Orange, Hat & Grace

In Gregory S. Moss’s elliptical, sometimes explosively funny drama, the distinctive Stephanie Roth Haberle and Matthew Maher work in marvelous comic syncopation, creating an unlikely push-me-pull-you romance. But the author alternates between the couple’s irrepressibly original moments and herky-jerky descents into atmospheric horror-tale cliché; despite the efforts of talented director Sarah Benson, the ooky stuff feels like a knockoff.—Helen Shaw
