The Norwegian sensation Jon Fosse (A Summer Day, I Am the Wind) won the Novel Prize for Literature in 2023, but his experimental explorations of banality have not yet found the popularity in the United States that they have enjoyed elsewhere in the world. In this 1997 work, translated by Sarah Cameron Sunde and directed by Jerry Heyman, a frustrated writer and his wife wallow in discontent.
