Laiona Michelle stars in her original biomusical of Nina Simone, the "high priestess of soul" whose distinctive intensity as a genre-spanning singer and pianist gave her a platform that she also used to advance the cause of civil rights. Devanand Janki directs the show, which features numerous songs that Simone made famous. (Mark Fifer is the musical director and arranger.)
