Marishka S. Phillips directs a diptych of rare revivals of one-act plays on African-American themes: Pearl Cleage's 1992 Late Bus to Mecca, about a pair of oppressed women at a Detroit bus station, and Bill Harris's 1984 Every Goodbye Ain't Gone, in which a soldier falls for a jazz singer.
