Hurt Village

Katori Hall stares down satire and cliché in this ferocious and expansive African-American drama, set in the degraded projects of Memphis. Patricia McGregor’s superb actors (led by Joaquina Kalukango and the estimable Tonya Pinkins) bring maximum force to the play's impassioned explorations of tragedy and hope.
