Encores!: The Band Wagon

City Center's invaluable Encores! concert-musical series diverges from its usual Broadway mandate with a stage adaptation of a 1953 movie musical (with a Dietz-and-Schwartz score). Wit-for-hire Douglas Carter Beane adapts the Comden-and-Green screenplay; the excellent cast, directed by Kathleen Marshall, includes Brian Stokes Mitchell, Tracey Ullman, Laura Osnes, Michael McKean and Tony Sheldon.
