Richard Rodgers was nearing the end of his storied career and Stephen Sondheim was just ramping up for his when they wrote the score for this short-lived 1965 musical, about an American woman seeking romance in Venice. (The book is by Arthur Laurents.) Evan Cabnet directs a concert staging for City Center's invaluable Encores! series, starring Melissa Errico and featuring Claybourne Elder, Cass Morgan and the piquant Sarah Stiles.
