Encores!: Call Me Madam

City Center's invaluable concert-staging series Encores! continues its 26th season with this 1950 musical comedy by Irving Berlin, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Carmen Cusack (Bright Star), in the role originated by Ethel Merman, plays a well-connected socialite who is appointed ambassador to a tiny European nation. Casey Hushion directs an ensemble led by Ben Davis, Jason Gotay, Darrell Hammond, Adam Heller, Carol Kane, Stanley Wayne Mathis, Brad Oscar, Randy Rainbow, Michael Benjamin Washington and Lauren Worsham. Among the treasures of the score is the hearty counterpoint duet "You're Just in Love."
