Encores!: Cabin in the Sky

The spring season of City Center's invaluable Encores! series of staged concert revivals begins with a look back at this 1940 musical about Southern African-American life and afterlife. The score, by Vernon Duke and John Latouche, includes the standards "Taking a Chance on Love” and “Happiness Is a Thing Called Joe." Ruben Santiago-Hudson directs a cast led by Michael Potts, Norm Lewis, Chuck Cooper and LaChanze.
