Des Moines

Through better known for his short stories and novels, the late Denis Johnson (Jesus' Son) also wrote a handful of plays—of which the last was 2007's Des Moines, which assembles a group of lonesome people for a party where they sing karaoke and wrestle with the bittersweet mysteries of life. TFANA regular Arin Arbus directs the production; the extremely promising cast includes Michael Shannon, Johanna Day, Arliss Howard, Hari Nef and Heather Alicia Simms.
