A Woman of the World

Fresh from her memorable portrayal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Novenas for a Lost Hospital, the indispensable Kathleen Chalfant plays another formidable 19th-century woman: Mabel Loomis Todd, who edited Emily Dickinson's work for publication after the poet's death. Directed by Valentina Fratti, Rebecca Gilman's solo play finds Todd at a rural Maine retreat in her later years, reminiscing about her scandalous history.
