For people with skin allergies, the opening of dermatologist-founded VMV Hypoallergenics’ first stateside store will likely be a godsend. Now folks with a sensitive epidermis can stock up on the Philippines brand’s fragrance-, preservative- and allergen-free body-care products. The checkered-tile floor and slightly retro display cases give the cheery, well-lit space the feel of a mod apothecary. For easy shopping, items are displayed in cubbies and organized by categories like dry skin (Creammmy Rich Intense Moisture Milk; $27), acne (Spring Fresh Oil-Free Nourisher SPF 15; $27) and sun protection (Armada Face and Body Shield 60; $49). The natural products don’t stop at skin care: you’ll also find antiperspirant ($18), shampoo ($26), conditioner ($19) and even toothpaste ($14). Plus, there’s a private, spalike room in the back where aestheticians perform an extensive variety of facials, including an hour-long Blemish Buster ($125) and a 30-minute Skin Picker-Upper ($45).
