The name of this shop refers to its stock of carefully sourced antiques and its discreet location in the back of Lower East Side jewelry store the Great Frog. Started in 2011 by Steven Ditchkus and his partner, Jake Lamagno—a well-known skater kid and the entertainment director of Thompson LES hotel, respectively—the Hunt now has a permanent place to showcase the twisted, Americana-themed vintage housewares and furniture the pair has amassed over the past decade. The dark back room is packed with one-of-a-kind collectibles sourced mostly from New York, including a 1940s film-studio light repurposed into a lamp ($850), a taxidermy alligator head ($350) and a decorative steel skeet thrower ($375) that dates back to 1892.
