When Kajal Ruia left her finance job in London, she was on a mission
to introduce her favorite top European shoe brands (Baldan, Dibrera,
Dora by Mipiaci) to New York. Though the labels are expensive, Ruia’s
selection stands out even in shoe-saturated Soho, with curvy pink
wedges from Cleo B ($414); Swarovski-studded Loriblu pumps ($797);
sleek fur-lined Twice boots ($946); and sharp, silver-tipped Luis
Onofre heels ($426). The collection is displayed over dressers and
antique tables in a comfy pseudo–living room on the main floor, and
the footwear is intended to be tried on with free drinks in hand. The
homey vibe continues on the mezzanine level, where a cozy lounge and a
flat-screen TV provide spouses (and tired shoppers) with a comfortable
place to pass the time.
