The European in us dreams of scooting around the city on an old-school Vespa. That day may never come, but at least we can dream at this moped mecca, where owners Nathan Isherwood and Ryan Due repair and refurbish classic bikes from the late ’70s and early ’80s ($60 per hour). Fantasize about taking a spin on a 1983 Puch bike ($1,500) that’s been speed enhanced to make it, according to Isherwood, “Williamsburg Bridge–worthy.” Even if the only wheels you’ll be riding are on a fixed gear, you should still play it safe and pick up some colorful head protection from classic helmet brand Fulmer ($100). Moped hobbyists can also dig through the Salvage Yard, a shelf dedicated to old parts, from gaskets to engines ($1–$100), or just talk bikes with the rotating cast of locals.
