After routinely being stopped for compliments on the streets of New York while wearing their shoe-and-handbag company’s designs, sisters Irina Borsan and Luciana Mihordea decided to open an NYC flagship of Musette—the popular 18-year-old Romanian brand’s first stateside outpost. An assortment of sophisticated, feminine handbags ($200–$300), shoes ($150–$350), belts ($30–$40) and gloves ($70–$100) designed by Cristhelen B are perched on wooden shelves within the brightly lit, whitewashed boutique. Though items like a pair of sleek patent oxfords ($228) and lace-up spike-heeled boots with buckles over the toe ($345) have an undoubtedly chic European sensibility, we can see Musette’s bright-red pebbled leather clutch ($332) taking us from an afternoon at a Sullivan Street café to a racy night out at MercBar.
