The mother ship of organic cosmetic companies just landed in the East Village: Danna Nashaat’s eco-friendly spot is appropriately outfitted with bamboo floors, white and green accents, and a plasma TV screening National Geographic films. Kaia, which means “pure” in Scandinavian and “skin” in Hindi, focuses on natural beauty products and is best known for its house line of nontoxic, quick-drying nail polishes ($8). Other items of note include Kaia House’s soy nail-polish remover ($8), and Chemically Naked’s vegan wheatgrass and seaweed face masks ($16) and watermelon oil that diminishes the appearance of stretch marks ($22).
