The scene here is a street-style photographer’s wet dream. With shoppers outfitted in ensembles as exciting as the clothing for sale, passersby will be enraptured by the going-ons at the 2,240-square-foot Soho outpost, Marant’s first in the U.S. Inside, the decor reads more like a chic interpretation of an urban lake house than the Parisian boutique you might expect, and the store’s high ceilings and bleached wood are the perfect vehicle for showcasing both Marant’s ready-to-wear collection and her contemporary label, Etoile. A gazebo at the center of the store is filled with swoonworthy footwear, studded handbags and accessories (a pendant necklace costs $105; crystal hoop earrings are $270). While Marant’s signature pieces are too steep for most (a patchwork raccoon-fur jacket runs $3,200), Etoile’s wares range from $135 to $530 for super-soft heathered tees, plaid shirts, twill jackets and trenches. And we don’t know ’bout you, but we’re fully prepared to blow next month’s rent on one-shoulder silk dresses with waist-cinching sashes ($415), slouchy paper-bag-waist shorts ($280), and canvas boots with suede fringe, silver chains and four-inch conical heels ($1,160).
