The brand that helped define fashion’s minimalist movement in the ’90s brought a dose of downtown cool to the Upper West Side. Though Lang himself has not been involved with the label since 2005, creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos continue to churn out the laid-back, simple yet luxe designs that the line has become known for. The space (previously occupied by parent company Theory) reflects Helmut Lang’s unfussy style, with concrete floors and cold steel fixtures, and will feature the brand’s latest collections. Right now, look for pared-down and slouchy basics like leather-trimmed leggings ($265), jersey maxiskirts ($185), shearling jackets with oversize collars ($1,670) and wool sheath dresses ($290). You can also find the recently launched handbag collection, including asymmetrical leather clutches ($450).
