What is it about summer in Europe that is so incredibly appealing? Is it the allure of sipping spritzes while gazing out at the breathtaking coastlines of Cinque Terre? Or trekking across London Bridge while taking in the sights and history? Or stepping out in high fashion while strolling the Champs Elysees?

If you’re already thinking “yes please, all of the above,” then this is your sign that it’s time to plan a trip across the pond. But where should you go, and perhaps more importantly, what should you wear? While you can’t go wrong with nearly any European destination, if you want to blend in and feel more like a local, you may want to upgrade your wardrobe while you’re there.

Luckily, wherever you find yourself in Europe this summer, McArthurGlen Designer Outlets will have you serving looks across the continent. Not only can you indulge in tax free shopping, but you’ll save up to 70% off retail prices all year round, and can enjoy an extra 10% off with the McArthurGlen Fashion Passport. June, July and August are especially great for the outlets’ Summer Sales.

But once you’re dressed to the nines, where can you find your very own European runways to show off your new styles? Here are some of our favorite itineraries that combine some of the world’s most stunning art, most delicious food and of course, the very best luxury shopping experience.

Italy

Bustling and full of industrial charm, Milan is a great place to start your trip. After a couple days of eating your weight in risotto and ossobucco at Osteria Conchetta and Al Cantinone while absorbing style inspo from the seemingly endless parade of fashion models strutting through the streets, take a day trip south toward the Ligurian seaside to the Designer Outlet Serravalle, which is, with over 230 stores, the largest luxury designer outlet in all of Europe. It’s also located in the UNESCO recognized Monferrato region, which is beloved for truffle hunting and wine tasting, making for a perfect pit stop for a couple of days if you’re up for it.

If you’re flying into or out of Rome, you can easily shop at Designer Outlet Castel Romano, which is located just 30 minutes outside the Italian capital. The outlet is home to over 150 stores, including Armani, Versace, Zegna, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and many more. In between your shopping escapades, you can indulge in a number of the city’s historic walking tours, which are perfect for burning off the feasts you’ll be eating at some of Rome’s best restaurants, like Coromandel, Mulino Ai Quattro Venti, Da Enzo al 29, Trapizzino and Va.Do.

The landscape of Venice is simply stunning: between the canals and the historic architecture, it feels like you’re walking into a painting at every turn. The city is also prime for people watching as you stroll the narrow streets and ports full of gems like the famous bookstore Acqua Alta and the must-try coffee shop Caffè del Doge, which is why it’s imperative that you take fashion seriously here (people will be watching you, too!). Taking inspiration from the historic city’s palatial architecture, Designer Outlet Noventa di Piave—where you’ll find brands like Gucci, Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Valentino and more—is surrounded by gorgeous mosaics and breathtaking frescoes. Located just 40 minutes outside of Venice, this outlet makes for another great day trip.

France

It’s hard to imagine a place more effortlessly stylish than Paris, and McArthurGlen’s newest outlet, Paris Giverny—offering brands such as L'Oréal, Lacoste and Sandro and more—is just 45 minutes outside France’s capital and will provide you with the looks you need to be amongst the most stylish in the city. With a unique contemporary design and its very own artisan village—The Maison des  Métiers d'Art—Designer Outlet Paris Giverny is a destination in itself. Go for the day and break up your shopping excursion with bites and sips from onsite cafes Ladurée and Angelina, or stop at Paris Giverny on a road trip to the historic beaches of Normandy.

Austria

Located just half an hour outside Vienna, Designer Outlet Parndorf is set amongst vibrant architecture inspired by the local Burgenland style. Burgenland is known for its excellent red wines, making it a fabulous stop for eating and drinking, too. Consider starting at Restaurant Landhaus to fuel up on schnitzel Wiener Art, aka Viennese-style schnitzel before hitting as many of the outlet’s 160+ stores as you can handle—or afford—including Boss, Gucci and more. Afterwards, cap off your day with a real treat without leaving the outlet: a Sacher torte from Sacher Café.

From Vienna, you can retrace Mozart’s footsteps on a road trip to Salzburg (via car or train), home to Designer Outlet Salzburg, (with Karl Lagerfeld, Wolford and more), which is located just 10 minutes outside the city center (and just a stone’s throw from the Salzburg airport, so if you fly into the city, you can easily go from customs to the outlet to a night on the town). If you’re a classical music lover, you can’t miss the Salzburg Music Festival, which features 179 operas and concerts across 15 venues. Foodie? Be sure to try Kasnocken, a dish of small dumplings prepared with melted cheese and caramelized onions believed to originate from the nearby Pinzgau region.

Spain

While there’s no shortage of unique and historic sites in Spain, Malaga is something special. Located just off the coast of the Alboran Sea, it’s one of the oldest cities in the world (at least 2,800 years old), and is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. If you’re a wine drinker, Anyway Wine Bar is a must visit—choose from 100+ wines, 20+ cheeses and Iberico ham that’s as close to perfection as it gets. Designer Outlet Malaga—including Furla, Prada, Tumi, Escada and more—is just 20 minutes outside the city and 10 minutes from the local airport, and is easily accessible to the renowned holiday resort towns of Marbella and Puerto Banús.
