Rare are the shops that boast a truly extensive line of organic home and body products, but Ecodemis is the real deal—nearly everything sold here is organic or made with exclusively natural ingredients. Family team Patrick Louison and his soft-spoken mother, Catherine, ran a kiosk in the Kings Plaza Mall before expanding their business with this simple, modest shop in 2008. The duo offers the usual lineup of biodegradable bar soaps from Dr. Bronner’s ($3), but also sells organic pet shampoo ($10), chlorine-free flushable diapers ($30); nontoxic, biodegradable home-cleaning products, such as Vermont Soap Organics’ yoga-mat cleaner ($10) and Earth Aware household cleanser ($7); Erbaorganics organic skin care for expectant mothers ($12–$25) and Bee Mine organic hair products ($13–$22). There’s also a small assortment of essential oils (starting at $15) and the occasional home item for purchase, like a yogurt-making machine ($89).
