Childhood friends and Astoria roommates Jimmy Collins and identical twins Raffie and Phil Gordon believe skateboarding is more than just a sport—it’s a way of life. They opened their store to cater to the flourishing scene sparked by the new Astoria Skate Plaza. Just one block from the Astoria–Ditmars Blvd subway station, the neighborhood skate shop and clothing boutique houses a selection of men’s urban streetwear, sneakers, accessories and skateboards, sourced, whenever possible, from NYC vendors. Get the skater look with GoodWood natural wooden jewelry ($10–$60), Only’s "New Yorker Than You" T-shirts ($32), Nike SB high-top sneakers ($88–$108) and Belief blond-wood boards ($45). In an effort to share their passion for the sport with the community, the owners plan to offer skateboard lessons and are even extending discounts to local schools. And look for a Belief clothing line coming out later this year.
